Amar

2024

Amar was a conceptual healthcare app designed to improve access to medical services in Iceland. Our team developed the initial concept, designs, and prototypes for an app connecting patients with doctors 24/7, and a web interface for physicians to manage care. Despite showing potential to revolutionize healthcare accessibility, the project was shelved after the early development phase due to various factors.

The Project

Amar is a mobile app designed to tackle the issue of limited access to medical services in Iceland. The idea stemmed from the common problem many Icelanders face: Waiting weeks for a doctor's appointment, which is particularly challenging for working professionals and parents. The situation is even more dire at night and in rural areas, where medical services are often scarce. The app's core concept was to connect patients with doctors quickly and efficiently. Users would log in using their electronic ID and could consult with a physician within minutes, 24/7. On the healthcare provider side, doctors would use a custom web interface to manage patient inquiries, issue prescriptions, and maintain medical records. We developed this concept and created initial designs and prototypes for both the Amar app and its accompanying web interface, with the goal of revolutionizing healthcare accessibility in Iceland. The project, while still in its early stages, showed significant potential to transform the country's healthcare system. Despite our efforts and the promising nature of the concept, Amar didn't progress beyond the initial development phase. Although the idea demonstrated considerable potential, a combination of factors prevented its advancement to full implementation. Ultimately, despite the work invested in its early development, the project was shelved.
